Kyrgyzstan ( Kyrgyz Republic ) is a landlocked
 and mountainous country in Central Asia.

  It is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north,
 Uzbekistan to the west,
Tajikistan to the southwest
and China to the east.

Khan Tengri ( 6995m )

"Lord of the Spirits" / "Lord of the Sky" / "Ruler of Skies"

 Khan Tengri is the second-highest mountain
 in the Tian Shan.

Khan Tengri is one of the " Snow Leopard Peaks "

The Terskey Alatau / Terskey Ala-Too
is a mountain range in the Tian Shan mountains.

 The length of the range is 354 km
 and the highest peak is Karakol Peak ( 5,216m ).

Another high peak is Boris Yeltsin Peak ( 5,168m )
 - previously named Oguz Bashi.

The Snow Leopard Peaks:-

Within the borders of the old Soviet Union ( USSR ), there are five mountains over 7000 metres - they are all located in Central Asia. For climbing all five the title " Snow Leopard " is gained - an indication of being a top ranked climber. The completion of the Snow Leopard peaks is a major objective for many Russian mountaineers.

The five Snow Leopard Peaks are:-

  • Pik Kommunizma ( 7495m ) Tajikistan
  • Pik Pobedy  ( 7345m ) China/Kyrgyzstan
  • Pik Lenin ( 7134m ) Tajikistan/Kyrgyzstan
  • Pik Korzhenevsky ( 7105m ) Tajikistan
  • Khan Tengri ( 6995m ) Kazakhstan/Kyrgyzstan
