Doune Castle a medieval stronghold near the village of Doune some 8 miles ( 13 km ) to the NW of Stirling The castle is on a wooded bend  above the River Teith. The castle is a popular film location  - appearing in Monty Python, The Bruce, Ivanhoe, The Outlaw King, Outlander and Game of Thrones.
