Penang Hill is the major hill system of Penang  It is 6km ( 3.7 miles ) from the centre of George Town,  and stands out as a hilly, forested area. It is also known as Bukit Bendera ( Flagstaff Hill )

Funicular Railway on Penang Hill The Penang Hill Railway is a two section funicular railway that climbs Penang Hill from Air Itam on the outskirts of George Town.  The total journey takes about half an hour with a change of car at a mid-point station.
