A Jaguar Series II, 2.4 litre, Mark I was the first of five Jaguars owned.
These were used on hill-walking and ski-ing trips in Scotland
and also on alpine mountaineering trips in Europe.
On the outward journey of one trip the distance of 1000 miles
from Bearsden / Glasgow to Kandersteg in Switzerland
was covered in 24 hours ,
including the time for the cross-channel ferry from Dover to Calais.
The Mark I Jaguar replaced a Sunbeam Talbot sports saloon
and was replaced by an Austin Westminster A110.
The Westminster was succeeded by a MkII "S" type,
a Series II 420, an XJ12L and finally an XJ6 Jaguar.
